R.A.O.K.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Looky what I got in the mail....I got R.A.O.K.-ed and I've been grinnin' ever since! For those not Villagers (Crochetville addicts), R.A.O.K means random acts of kindness....In Crochetville you can post a list of wishes and on my wish list I said I would LOVE any new or used books in a couple of different genres...Well I got some wooohoooo! Plus a super snazzy windchime, I collect them and somehow the Fairystitch Mother knew... she must have a crystal ball!

Now to divide my time between crocheting and reading...hmmmm, can I do both at once? Not enough hours in the day, SIGH!

Dumpling

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is Dumpling our squirrel...yes a real life squirrel. He is a damn terror but sweet!

 Facts about Dumpling:

1. Dumpling should be in the wild but due to being kept by humans he has no fear of dogs, cats, or people making him unable to be released. We are not the humans who kept him caged but he is a new addition to our animal rescue and probably live his life out here.

2. Dumpling craps alot.

3. Dumpling likes to use my ass as a trampoline.

4. Dumpling likes to use Joe's(dh) face as a diving board.

5. Dumpling is named Dumpling because as a running joke my grandfather told my children he was making them dumplings out of the local squirrels..gross but it was funny to see their EWWW faces.

Well there ya have it....Dumpling the fluffy tailed rat.

There is me and the hubby's names (Lollie is my nickname), and next is our handfasting picture (wedding), next is Wolfgang my precious furry boy child (photo taken with black and white by me, do photography for a hobby) , next is a flaming skull, and then I love my kids....Joe loved it! BTW Michelle does take special orders! Once I get permission to post her email addy I'll do so!

This is Michelle's Ute purse! She requested black with pastel rainbow trim....I tried to talk her out of it but it don't look bad. Kinda like it!

My latest haul...I swore after Joanns Firefly frenzy sale I was done for a while. However, when we went to get thread , only thread, Hobby Lobby had speciality yarns for 1.50 and 2.00...Some homespun for a healing shawl for 3.00 each! And some other things that hopped in the shopping tote....

WIPs and chains...

It seems my WIPs are growing in number....odd for someone with ocd...do ocd and creativity balance one another? hmmm...
Anyhoo, today I have one goal..to finish Michelles purse! She, btw, has sent me a lovely envelope full of love and crafty goodness, I'll post a pic later AFTER I finish her purse!

Goal: Michelle's Ute Purse....
ETA: June 23 2005

Although this purse is my only goal for today, I do have a few more WIPs I would love to complete ASAP...here is a tiny list:

One granny square baby blanket--completion rounds
Steph's Poncho-- More length and seam together add edging
8Balls dress-- Button to add, weave in loose ends
Steph's Purse--Add lining and the "s"

Short list eh? Then why is it like pulling eye teeth to get me to complete them!

Also to my "to-do" list, the LYS would like me to make some sewn hook and needle cases....Im thinking just two of each to see if they go over... She wants totes too...so I migh make two of those!

Hope to post a pic of Michelle's Ute Purse and the goodies she sent this evening!

Get Porked

I have a pet pot belly pig....good? bad? I dunno...but she lives here and for the most part is charming and funny and truely a nice addition to this friggin hodge podge of misfits we have, including us humans.

Here's the thing...Bacon, the afore mentioned pig, needs to get laid. She will hump anything and everything if its still. She's not humping legs YET, but it could happen. She ruined a cooler with her lust as well as a few lawn chairs, and her latest romantic adventure distroyed a wicker hamper I set outside the door to do some cleaning. Yes, I do clean on occassion...

Should I trot Bacon to the vet to be spayed? Hmmmm, I dunno...dont think the un-fixed male chow down the road has designs on her. I've not seen any burly looking sexah man pigs or angelic/devilish Betti Paige woman pigs lurking about....Is there even a piggy gigolo service? And if so do you pay the pork man ho-s in corn, slop, or what? Guess it will remain one of the great mysteries of the universe.....

More Yarn...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Look at the fab-o yarn I found at goodwill today....it was $4.00 bucks for these skeins all together!!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is the new Joanns purchase to end their Firefly sale!!!I used my 50% off one item coupon for the peacock yarn in front ( the purple-y stuff making it 3 buckaroos!). The TLC  was $1, the navy in the middle was 50 cents a skein, the boucle was $1.50, and the Lily's SNC was 75 cents!

Think my yarn shopping is over with for a while....Normally we only go to town once every two weeks! I went two days in a row....madness I tell you, madness!

Im going to pet my yarn now.......muahahaha!

A Bone To Pick

Well in fear of losing potential online buddies...I've got to rant a bit!
After going in search of a charity for the people in the Appalachians...I seem to have blown a socket!
Where are all the Pagan ran charities? HELLO...fellow pagans, whats up guys????
Why are there no pagan crocheters webrings?
Why are there no pagan crochet patterns for free or sell?
Back to the Appalachian folks....I want to be do something for these folks...I searched and found not one non-denominational charity! NOT ONE...sigh!!!
A recent post by a fellow crocheter and blogger got me to thinking about doing more for the community as a whole....Community meaning the good old USA....
Why are folks scared or in dislike of pagans? And why the heck do pagans not declare themselves and join together for charities? I mean broad charities not grassroots...(I dont mean enviromental either)

Well I'm done pitching a fit just shocked and wanna do something and dont know what......
I do know I will not NOT send something ,due to it being Christian ran... least someone is doing something! * not opposed to Christian ran but would much rather converting not be the primary ideal of giving*

I dont see a prob coming up with a subtle way to band together to do something....sorta like a charity chain! Maybe I just didnt get the pagan memo(s)...

If anyone can point me to a non-denominational Appalachian Charity I would be so thankful....And if any of you crocheting pagan brothers or sisters out there want to give an opinion on a webring please do it!

Please click the link above to learn more about religious tolerance...just click the title and you'll get there!
Brightest blessings!

Forgive my rambling, when emotional, one must find the pieces that fit together, sorta like a puzzle..stick them together and figure out what the heck Im saying LOL...Not sorry for what I said or meaning behind it just that its not easy to follow!

Random Thought

My grandmother used to have this saying, I noticed she used it a lot when referring to new friends I'd sometimes drag home....

Her little eyebrow would raise and she'd say, "If you lay down with dogs, you'll pick up fleas." Then I'd just roll my eyes but now... I see her wisdom....SIGH

I think she was preparing me for Crochetville...laugh go ahead but I'm serious!!!! I go over there read a few weeks, then decide to join, now I'm all up in C'Villes Kool Aid....it's true...I wake up and run over to see new post, do a few household things, run back to see any new post, after hubby goes to work I park there and sit and wait...on what I dunno...

Now here is the fleas bit....These fellow yarn lubber have filled my favorites with endless links...I read more blogs in a day than I have actual hours!

The moral of the story is "if you lay down with hookers, your gonna pick up yarn, patterns, and inspiration"

Holy Crap Batman!!

Well what can be said about today, Sunday? Just about anything I guess...some people choose this day to relax, do a crossword, go worship somewhere, clean house, you know normal Sunday activities....
But not me, oh no, I must be different, Sunday is the day of self inflicting mental anguish. I bought a scale, a nice loverly bathroom scale in yuckolah white, (it was cheap, I'm frugal)...
The said torture device was 15 bucks at target...good deal, huh?
Anyhoo upon hitting the door home I ripped off the packaging adjusted the little dial thingy, made sure it was setting level...and hopped on...
After regaining a somewhat normal breathing pattern...I looked around to see who else might be looking....no humans, but that pesky dog crept this way, I shooed him, I know he would spread the word....If indeed he could speak in human, but I know he would find away to tell the hubby by pawing at the ground or barking X amount of times...poor furry bastard would be horse by the end, serves him right!
Im a vegetarian, I rarely eat fried foods but do partake of donuts on occassion, well because they friggn rock! I refuse to give up my occassional donut, so you know this means load of activity...hopping, jumping, running, and just doing basic stuff! What a slug I've become...sigh

On to craft things....the poncho for Steph I am working on is coming along nicely....it's been my occassional work do to the heat I've been trying to use my bits and pieces for squares. Small project no hot, larger project big hot. See the math there?????

My craftroom cleaning is coming along! Yippie! Pretty soon I will be able to actully do stuff in there! You know, what it was intended for, weird concept, I know!

Well off to try and finish up some WIPs and dream up some to-dos!

Yarn and Rambling

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
You see before you some strays I picked up! They needed a home, trust me it was for their (the yarns) benefit. I did well though these were on sale or clearanced items! The big honking ball is Joanns Rainbow Sensation $6.00, the boucle of course from Joanns, the eyelash is also from Joanns it was on sale for $3. and some change, the beyond is made by Southwest Trading Company and I got it from the LYS, yes we finally have one!! for $3.50 and finally the black Frenzy is from Wal-mart $3.00 on clearance.

I do have plans for all these I promise, they have a good home with loads of relatives!!!

Alrighty on with the rambling.....I joined two web rings please eyeball them, join if ya will....not real sure why I felt the need to join but I did and think I like it! See you even get a nifty button!!!

Ute's purse is now being made in black...a request from my friend Michelle in California. She makes italian charms, custom no less....so we have made a barter, a custom made keyring for her special ordered black Ute Purse!! Not to shabby, I get a keyring for hubby with a wedding pic, a skull pic, our names and a pic of our furry boy child Wolfgang who is a miniature schnauzer. Sadly, atesting to what a wonderful parent I am.....::::rolls eyes:::: I didnt have a pic of the girls to send Michelle..why you ask, well because I have none on pc and I do not know how to work my new scanner/printer/fax machine....

And bringing this blabbering to an end....I have added pics to my Flickr account of my craft room and all its messiness! Here is the link....

http://www.flickr.com/photos/70623003@N00/

Please let me know I am not the only one with this craft room chaos!!! Plz, anyone! BTW...its coming together slowly but surely! Will take after pics soon!

Ute's Purse

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is a purse I made last night for my friend Ute. Her birthday is soon and she loves pink. I winged this pattern, however I recall seeing one similar many places...so my eyes borrowed ideas I guess rather than reading a pattern. Make sense? And its not just one place so haven't a clue to who to give credit.

The purse took about 3 hours to make and is three strands of RedHeart Soft and used a J hook. Its all one piece starting with a base , all done in HDC. And some lovely eyelash yarn I got off clearance at Wal-Mart for 2 whole bucks!

Joe, the hubby said it so strong yet soft , I guess thats a good thing!

Let me know what ya think please! Also any suggestions for making the joining rounds look cleaner would be much appreciated!

Gifts received, gifts given

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This lovely HUGE bag is from my friend Miss Jane from Oklahoma.

I was excited to 1. see it had frogs, I loves me some frogs, and 2. that its big enough to carry WIPs along with me 3. to get a gift! I was giggling like a school girl, tickled pink I tell ya. Thank you Miss Jane you're the bestest!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is my niece Stephanie she was down from Colorado for a visit. I made this scarf for her and it was the right time to give it...I know folks dislike those silly yarns like eyelash, chacha etc...but you know the kid likes it so fooey on you yarn snobs. I read several peoples blogs that berated those who used those speciality yarns, but guess what y'all all those lovely yarn you use are nothing like what they used when knit and crochet began, its called progress and fun people.....get with it!

P.s. see the blonde behind Steph, thats my youngest offspring Amy!

Well off to complete some 12 inch squares!! Come on squares get done today!
